Quick Summary
The best place for petite maternity clothes is Seraphine Maternity, according to moms in the What to Expect community, because of their wide variety of petite clothing and their stylish designs.
Finding petite maternity clothes can feel almost impossible. I should know; as a 5-foot tall mom of two, I struggled to find pregnancy-friendly clothes for my short stature. Sure, you might be able to get away with sizing up in your favorite petite-friendly brands during the first trimester. But dedicated maternity clothing usually becomes a necessity as you get further along in your pregnancy.
Whether you’re looking for maternity jeans, loungewear, tops or dresses, you want something that fits properly as is. After all, you’re only wearing these clothes for a short period of time; you don’t really want to spend more money getting them tailored. That means that you’ll need petite maternity clothes that are designed to suit your body throughout pregnancy — and beyond.
Although there aren’t as many maternity (or even postpartum) clothes specifically tailored to petite frames, there are plenty of favorite brands that I and other moms-to-be have turned to during pregnancy.
How we chose the best petite maternity clothing brands
There are few clothing brands that sell dedicated petite maternity clothes. So I started my search for the best petite maternity clothes by considering the maternity and non-maternity brands I wore while pregnant. I then read testimonials from dozens of moms in the What to Expect community who spoke about petite pregnancy clothes they wore and loved. This not only provided me with suggestions for brands, but criteria needed to select the best petite maternity clothing. Based on What to Expect community feedback, as well as my own experience, the best petite maternity clothes on our list:
- Are supportive and comfortable options that will grow with your body
- Have features that provide a better fit for petite women, such as shorter inseams on jeans and leggings or ruched sides on shirts and dresses
- Can be worn postpartum

Unlike many maternity clothing brands, Seraphine has an entire section of their website dedicated to petite maternity clothes, with a wide array of pants, tops, dresses and even winter coats available. Moms particularly like Seraphine’s line of petite maternity jeans, saying they fall at the perfect length, as well as their petite maxi dresses, which won’t swallow you up with fabric.
But moms in the What to Expect community love that all of Seraphine’s maternity clothes are on-trend as opposed to the frumpy style you see in traditional pregnancy clothes. (So stylish, in fact, that Seraphine is a favorite among pregnant celebrities, too.) Moms also find that they can wear Seraphne’s maternity clothes well past pregnancy. Most of their clothes don’t look overtly like maternity wear, and many moms find that they act as great transitional items to wear postpartum, too.
The biggest downside of Seraphine Maternity is that the petite sizes often sell out quickly — so if you see something you love and it’s available, you’re better off grabbing it right away.
Most Affordable Petite Maternity Clothes
Old Navy
![Best Petite Maternity Clothes - Old Navy Maternity Clothes](http://images.agoramedia.com/wte3.0/gcms/oldnavy-crewneck-tshirt-jan-2024.jpg)
- Affordable
- Wide range of styles
- Petite jeans available
- Lacking specific petite sizing outside of jeans
Clothing Type: Jeans in short inseams

What to Expect moms-to-be constantly praise Old Navy for offering budget-friendly maternity clothes that look and feel great. (And Old Navy is almost always holding a sale, so you can typically stock up on maternity clothes for even less.) Even though Old Navy doesn’t have dedicated petite maternity sizes, I’ve relied on their clothes to fit my petite frame for both pregnancies to much success. Their jeans are a particular standout item, as they come in a “short” inseam, which is great for petite moms. I’ve purchased these short maternity jeans and found that they didn’t need to be hemmed at all. I also liked that the belly band didn’t feel huge on me and fit almost perfectly.
In addition to their maternity jeans, I also lived in the ruched Old Navy maternity t-shirts and dresses through my two pregnancies; I can confirm that they are petite-friendly. The stretchy ruching looks good whether you have a short or tall torso, and I found that their midi dresses fell at a surprisingly great length.
Best Petite Maternity Jeans and Pants
Abercrombie & Fitch
![Best Petite Maternity Clothes - Abercrombie & Fitch Maternity](http://images.agoramedia.com/wte3.0/gcms/abercrombie-maternity-jeans-feb-2024.jpg)
- Offers shorter inseams
- Comfortable and stylish
- Extensive sizing
- Can be pricey
- Can sell out quickly
Clothing Type: Jeans
Size Availability: 23-37
Return Policy: Full refund within 30 days, exchange at any time
When searching the What to Expect community boards for petite maternity jeans recommendations, Abercrombie & Fitch came up most often. Abercrombie sells maternity jeans in their popular classic styles, like ankle-length straight leg, jean leggings and straight jeans, and offers a “short” inseam for each pair. Moms adore these maternity jeans because they are timeless, so you can wear them throughout multiple pregnancies. And, most find that they’re really comfortable, with a nice stretchy belly panel. They come in a variety of colors (like white, black, dark wash and light wash), so it’s easy to find the option that works the best for your style.
I’ve found that Abercrombie’s extra short jeans — which are designed for people 5-feet and under — are the only petite jeans that perfectly fit me, regardless of what type of shoes I’m wearing. However, it appears from their website that they don’t offer maternity jeans in this extra short inseam. So you’ll have to stick with the short maternity jeans or size up in the extra short non-maternity style. Rest assured, one What to Expect mom who is 5-foot said she had no problem with the length of the short maternity jeans.
Best Petite Maternity Leggings
Lululemon
![Best Petite Maternity Clothes - Lululemon High Rise Align Pants](http://images.agoramedia.com/wte3.0/gcms/lululemon-highrise-pants-jan-2024.jpg)
- Versatile
- Can be worn through pregnancy and beyond
- Pricey
Clothing Type: Athleisure
Size Availability: 0-20 in 23, 25, 28, 31 inches
Return Policy: Full refund within 30 days
When you’re petite, leggings have a tendency to bunch at the ankles if they are too long. Fortunately, Lululemon offers several pregnancy-friendly leggings (including the super popular Lululemon Align leggings) in 23, 25, 28 or 31 inches, so you can pick the length you think would work best for you.
Even though the Lululemon leggings aren’t designed for maternity wear, they are highly recommended by tons of moms in the What to Expect community — in fact, they’re our overall favorite pick for maternity leggings. I wore Lululemon Align leggings throughout both of my pregnancies and found the the 25-inch length was perfect for me: Although advertised as cropped, they were the best full-length fit I found. The waistband stretched incredibly well through each trimester, so much so that I was actually shocked that they weren’t stretched out once the baby bump was gone. I was able to keep wearing them postpartum and for baby number two. They’re very comfortable and super versatile, so even though the price tag is high for leggings, you’ll get a lot of wear out of them.
Best Petite Maternity Dresses
PinkBlush
![Best Petite Maternity Clothes - PinkBlush Petite Maternity Clothes](http://images.agoramedia.com/wte3.0/gcms/pb-chiffon-dress-jan-2024.jpg)

- No specific petite sizing available
- Can be pricey

PinkBlush is another favorite among petite moms in the What to Expect community, especially when it comes to dresses. Although the brand doesn’t have a petite section, it does have many petite-friendly maternity shirt and dress options. You can find dresses in basically every style, from casual everyday options to more formal attire. Their clothes are cute and colorful, and the maternity clothing is stretchy, soft and comfortable.
I’ve found that their “petite-friendly” dresses work well on my shorter frame, and other moms have said the same. Although I did size down in some of the maxi dresses to ensure they weren’t too long.
Best Petite Maternity Clothes for Formal Occasions
ASOS
![Best Petite Maternity Clothes - ASOS Maternity](http://images.agoramedia.com/wte3.0/gcms/tfnc-maxi-dress-feb-2024.jpg)
- Choice of many different style of dresses
- Non-maternity petite dresses offer versatility
- Lacking specific petite maternity clothes
Clothing Type: Dresses, t-shirts, pants, leggings
Size Availability: 0-12 in most pieces
Return Policy: Free returns for 14 days, return fee applied after 14 days
Because ASOS offers a wide array of maternity dresses, from casual picks to fancier options, it was a natural choice when I was 9 months pregnant and needed to go to a wedding. Even though ASOS also doesn’t offer specific petite sizing for maternity wear, I had no problem finding a dress that hit at the right length well while still looking trendy and cute.
And I’m not the only one who found great success with shopping for petite maternity dresses at ASOS: What to Expect community members who wear petite clothing found that ASOS maternity wear fits their shorter frames well. Moms may also want to check out their more than 1,000 petite dresses available that are non-maternity but could still work with a baby bump if you size up.

- Introduces you to new styles and brands
- Unclear how many petite maternity clothes they offer
Clothing Type: Dresses, tops, bottoms, jeans, outerwear
Size Availability: 00-18
Return Policy: Return clothes at the end of each month
Rental services are a great option if you’ll only need maternity clothes for certain occasions, and Nully provides plenty of pregnancy-friendly options. For $98 a month, subscribers can rent six items a month from brands like Madewell, Hatch, Emilia George and more.
Nuuly has a pretty extensive maternity section, with everything from jeans to work pants to more formal dresses. Because their inventory changes, though, it’s hard to say how many petite maternity clothes they have. However, there’s a good chance you’ll find petite clothing that can double as maternity wear, especially if you go up a size. What to Expect moms love Nuuly because the maternity clothes are so stylish, with some saying they’ve opted to use it for their second pregnancy after enjoying it so much with their first.
That said, renting something like maternity jeans may be tough, because if they’re too long, hemming isn’t an option.
