For those of us "girly" moms out there, we've been dreaming of our daughters since we were in diapers ourselves. (What... just me?) My life wouldn't have felt complete if I hadn't had a girl. So you can imagine what my reaction was when I found out my first baby was a "she."

So as the proud mom of a daughter, I'd like to let you in on some things only moms of girls know. You other girl mothers will know exactly what I'm talking about. Probably.

1. You'll be tempted to buy four of every baby girl's piece of clothing in the store. I mean, come on. How ridiculously, insanely adorable are girls' clothes? It makes you feel kinda bad for moms of baby boys, doesn't it? Also don't be surprised if, like me, you start involuntarily looking for your daughter's outfits in your size. Did I mention that I'm wearing a big girl tutu right now?

2. You'll talk a lot about hurt feelings. This began happening almost straight out of the womb with my daughter. She'd cry, I'd coo soothingly, she'd babble in girly baby talk to explain how I or someone else had hurt her feelings, and then three hours later, the whole thing was resolved. Okay, I might be exaggerating slightly. But picture that drama with a toddler girl, and... bingo!

3. You'll be scowled at if you dare dress her in blue. This is especially true when she's a baby. I mean, you know it's a misdemeanor, right? So just prepare yourself for having pink everything shoved down your throat. And put. Away. The. Blue.

4. The Disney princesses will take over your life. Well-meaning friends and relatives will push the Disney princesses on your little girl (and you) so early, you won't be able to defend yourself or protect her. You'll be completely blindsided. Wasn't this supposed to happen when she was 5 or 6 years old, not 5 or 6 months old? You may just have to give in. Especially once your pure, Disney-princess-free daughter starts obsessively loving them and begs you for Cinderella this, Elsa that and Sleeping Beauty the other. You're powerless against the princesses!

5. You'll find yourself buying princess everything against your will. See #4.

6. Your purse will be rifled through roughly 25 times a day. You didn't really need to remember where all your credit cards and license were, now did you? And, kiss your favorite lipstick goodbye. It will be one of the biggest casualties and will wind up so mangled, you may not even recognize it at first. It's all worth it -- you have a girl! My advice? Keep your bag in a very, very high place even toddlers can't climb up to reach. Like the roof.

7. You'll find a love like no other you've ever known. A daughter's love is wonderful, sweet, intoxicating, complicated, profound and full of heart. And a mom's love for her baby girl is all those things and more. It is hard to imagine how remarkable it is until you experience it firsthand, but it truly is one of the greatest loves of all.

Moms of girls, do you have anything to add to the list?
